04/14/2021 09:30 AM - 11:00 AM CT

Description

The recent passing of the Illinois Black Caucus' Criminal Justice Bill, the SAFE-T Act, ended license suspensions for unpaid traffic, automated speed, and red light camera tickets. The bill also reinstates licenses suspended or held for these unpaid tickets as well as unpaid abandoned vehicle fines or fees. These changes mean Illinois no longer suspends driver's licenses for any unpaid ticket fines or fees!

With the removal of this common barriers to employment, hundreds of thousands of Illinoisans could have increased access to transportation and better jobs. But when and how can job seekers begin to take advantage of the new legislation?

Join the Jobs Council and Safer Foundation next month as we discuss how to guide your job seekers through the process of getting their licenses back. We'll also engage attendees in a dialogue about the next reforms most needed to support jobs seekers.
